ABOUT

Morwenna Lasko & Jay Pun have a sound all their own. Having influences from all over including Jazz, Funk, Worldbeat, Classical and more, to categorize their music is nearly impossible. In concert, their energy is powerful while still being delicate enough to dig deep into listeners’ hearts and make them weep. As a duo or with their full band, they are a strong force and continue to bring freshness to their fans.

Their new album, “The Hollow” was released in Europe in July 2015 and in the U.S. in December 2015. The album features their quartet, Pete Spaar on upright bass, Devonne Harris on drums & keys, and special guests including, accordionist, Thomas Lasko, French jazz guitarist, Stephane Wrembel, fretless bassist, Michael Manring, electric guitarist, Joe Lawlor, and vocalist, Ezra Hamilton. The group has played great venues and festivals across the country and internationally, including Club Bonafide (NYC), Kennedy Center’s Millenium Stage (DC), Floyd Fest (VA), Smoky Hill River Festival (KS), Festival delle Colline (Italy), Musicastrada (Italy), and many others.

BAND

MorwennaMorwenna LaskoViolin & Vocals
Beginning to play music at the age of 3, Morwenna begged her mom for a violin after she saw Itzhak Perlman as a guest on Sesame Street. Throughout her childhood she was classically trained, and then went on to learn fiddle and gypsy swing tunes where she showcased her talents in her band with her father, Thomas Lasko (guitarist & accordionist). She graduated high-school a year early to attend Berklee College of Music, where she studied jazz. After college, she found her true voice in music, creating her own unique sound on the violin. Morwenna continues her studies to constantly grow her sound.
